“Free the child’s potential and you will transform them into the world.”

– Maria Montessori

Pre-school to Year 12

Melbourne Montessori School(MMS) is a highly regarded, thriving independent school with two Melbourne campuses in Brighton and Caulfield.

Our school caters for children from 18 months (parent and toddler program) right through to Senior School where our students graduate with an International Baccalaureate (IB) or can select the Montessori Careers Program.

The Montessori method is founded on the idea that children learn best when they are free to explore and learn at their own pace, in an environment that is specifically prepared and designed to support their development.

In a Montessori classroom, children are encouraged to be self-directed learners and to take an active role in their own education. The teacher serves as a guide and facilitator and provides a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters creativity, independence, and a love of learning.

Melbourne Montessori School has been awarded The Educator’s Most Innovative School for two years in a row.

Our Programs

Preschool

18 Months – 3 Years Old

Our preschool programs introduce your child to the wonders of Montessori and begin their lifelong love of learning.  Toddlers are naturally motivated to learn about life. They are curious, hands on, explorers. Montessori understands and nurtures all the natural urges and drives of the toddler.

Junior School

3 Year Old Kinder - Year 6

Montessori philosophy recognises the way all humans naturally learn and allows each child to develop at their own pace and in their own style. Children learn responsibility for their own learning and engage cheerfully in activities to learn significant and relevant 21st century skills.

Senior School

Year 7 – Year 12

Our Senior School classes provide broad opportunities for young people to become excited by the world around them. As students approach years 11 and 12 they have the opportunity to explore the disciplines offered in our two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
